-Glorious Impossible-

There are many things we take for granted that, at one time, people thought ‘impossible.’ Folks thought the automobile could/should NEVER go over 40mph as that would surely make a person pass out. Flight was deemed a foolish preoccupation, as God only meant birds to fly. Flying, let alone, flying to the moon, was thus discouraged! Sailing around the world, ‘it’s flat you know,’ was off-limits & suicidal. The list goes on and on.

What was the common denominator in all these pursuits? Man, in his ignorance, had thought something was impossible, if not done or easily done before. While there are many things that are possible, only a naïve person would say, ‘nothing is impossible.’ That list is lengthy as well. We are finite beings with limitations.

“Nothing is impossible with God.”Luke 1:37

If you normally read the Christmas story found in Luke, back up one chapter to the back story. You’ll see the miraculous birth of John the Baptist, & also
Mary’s encounter with the angel Gabriel about the miracle of the Christ Child’s birth & her part in the greatest event in History.

Think about all the things that are absolutely impossible in your life. The list may be voluminous. Just remember the words Gabriel told Mary when she questioned how a simple peasant girl who had never been with a man would help usher in God’s own son. When there seems to be no way, remember ‘nothing is impossible with God.’

It seems God takes great delight in confounding us on a regular basis, by throwing us into situations where we have absolutely nothing to rely on except Him. It’s then that He shines the most as He defies all the laws of nature; you know the ones He set in the first place, & produces the miraculous. After all, if we could do it all, would we ever reach beyond ourselves to what CAN’T be done?

A favorite song of mine says it like this: "Praise oh praise Him praise the glory, Of this lavished grace so full. Lift your souls now and receive the Glorious Impossible"
